The score of Somniloquy was composed collectively by Goode and the players -- Lara Allen (Heavenly Ten Stems, Ragtime Germs), Eric Marc Cohen (Job's Daughter's, United Noise), Timb Harris (Secret Chiefs 3, Estradasphere), Jason Schimmel (Orange Tulip Conspiracy, Secret Chiefs 3, Estradasphere), Ches Smith (Secret Chiefs 3, Xiu Xiu, Trevor Dunn, Marc Ribot), Trey Spruance (Mr Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3, Faxed Head). For two weeks all participants logged what they experienced while repeating phrases generated by Goode (a different one for each night) as they drifted off to sleep. A portion of the subsequent dreams and hypnagogic experiences serve as the piece’s narrative score, which was constructed to highlight the visual and thematic similarities between different people’s dreams and hypnagogic experiences taking place during the same twenty-four hour period. The performers interpret the dreams within the score, and make choices regarding how they to translate sounds and/or music (literally, emotionally, symbolically or oneirically).
